This is an authentic and hand-printed etching print. The motif is etched into a metal plate and then run through a roller press to be printed. The process of reapplying the ink by hand makes each print unique in its tone and texture within the edition.

Etching on zinc with aquatint/mezzotint. Printed on 300g/sm Fabriano Watercolour paper.
The Flying Dutchman myth has always been in the back of my mind for an illustration project, and I finally realised it with my biggest etching yet! Having worked on it during a very busy time in my life with two moves, it took me over a year in the end to complete it since I started the sketch. New things were learned, limits were pushed and a lot of time was spent tweaking the smallest things. Each individual print is a product of about fourty minutes of inking, while the variation between the prints is kept to a minimum. Find a complete review of the process here!

This etching ships packed in acid free tissue paper and rolled up inside a tube. IMPORTANT: The lids are stapled for extra security. Remove the staples of the lids entirely before pulling out the print! Bitte die Tackernadeln aus den Deckeln vollständig entfernen!
Display and care
A safe way to display it is usually in a glass frame with a passepartout. Please avoid long-term exposure of the print to direct sunlight and very high air humidity. Store only in materials that do not attack the paper or ink.
